Ladies Singles

Toni Richards and Lynn Russell met again in a repeat of the 2008 final. This was a fine, well-contested match with many long rallies. The score was closer this year, but the result as the same – Toni retained her title 7-5, 6-3.

Mixed Doubles

Tessie & Howard Cook played new partnership Jane Arnott and Paul Burtenshaw. Both pairs competed well and were obviously enjoying the match, but in the end Jane and Paul proved stronger and won 6-2, 6-1.

Ladies Doubles

Toni & Lynn were back on court for the Ladies Doubles, but on opposite sides of the net! Tessie Cook joined Toni to defend their 2008 title against Lynn & Jane Arnott. After some lively exchanges and well-fought points, Toni & Tessie won 6-3, 6-1.

Boys Under-18 Singles

Our 2008 holder, Edward Nelson, faced a new opponent this year in Aaron Baker. This was a hard-fought contest between two very promising young players. The first set went to Edward after some excellent rallies & good tactical points. The second set was also well-contested although the final score did not reflect this, as many of the games went to deuce. Edward retained his title 6-3, 6-0

Under 14 Boys Final

This match was delayed by injury & eventually took place on 31 October! 2008 champion Harry Bryant took on his good friend Conall Freeman in a match of good rallies & excellent sportsmanship. In the end Harry proved stronger & retained his title 6-1, 6-0.
